Maintaining your safer surface
Safer surfaces for many uses
Here at Safer Surfacing we have been creating surfaces for many different uses ranging from children’s play areas, walkways, pathways, patios and even around swimming pools. We have also used our fantastic recycled rubber wet pour surface for sports areas, including outdoor gyms.
Keeping your surface in good order
Going to the expense of having a safer surface installed in your school, home or business is no small decision, and it is natural that you will want your investment to stay in good condition for many years to come.
To keep your safer surface looking good you need to keep it well maintained, especially as it will no doubt be well used and loved. This is especially true for the many playground areas we have installed over the years!
Simple steps
Step one –
Simple brushing of the area to keep all foreign objects away will really help your safer surface. This is equally true of both hard objects (such as small toys, stone and pebbles etc.) and also the softer elements such as leaves, sand and twigs etc. If the autumn proves too arduous to brush up all the falling leaves, then you van hire a leaf blower to make the task easier.
Step two –
It is inevitable that a surface that is in regular use and exposed to the good old British weather is going to look slightly dirty and stained by leaves decomposing, but fear not, these too can be easily remedied. At Safer Surfacing we would recommend that you give your surface a bi-annual clean using just warm soapy water. If you have a pressure washer we strongly recommend that you only use it on its lowest setting as the higher settings may damage your surface.
Winter –
If you experience frost during the winter months we would always advice using a human and animal friendly de-icer as these are better for the surface, and everyone who uses it (including animals!). Rock salt or grit can damage the surface of the area and can leave the graphics or colours of the surface looking jaded.
